Steps
The following topics are covered in this quick guide:
- Section 1 - Saving an Incomplete Templated Note
- Section 2 - Editing an Incomplete Templated Note
- Section 3 - Incomplete Notes in Reports
Section 1 - Saving an Incomplete Templated Note
-
When a templated note is started but not finished, the existing information can be saved to complete later. Click Finish Later to save the current progress.
-
The incomplete note icon displays in the Charting module beside the visit note on the treatment plan card when the visit is not checked out.
Note: If a templated note is added to an invoice or appointment, the unfinished note icon will also display beside the note.
-
When a visit is checked out, the note moves to Charting History. Click the note icon in the Notes column to access it.
-
The incomplete note icon remains visible beside the note, indicating it can still be edited and completed.
-
The icon is also visible within the Sidekick for quick identification.
-
Similarly, the icon displays in the main Notes module.
-
Notes with an Incomplete status cannot be locked.
Note: Even if automatic note locking is enabled in Administration, unfinished notes will remain unlocked until they are finalized.
Section 2 - Editing an Incomplete Templated Note
-
To edit, right-click the note in any location it is displayed to bring up the menu.
-
Select Edit Templated Note.
-
The editor opens to the text page. To return to the form fields, click the corresponding template type in the sidebar.
-
If the note is now finished, click the checkmark to validate the data.
-
Review the final text. If no more edits are required, click Save.
-
Once saved, the note icon will update to a "completed" status in Charting, the Sidekick, and the Notes module.
-
You can filter for these specifically in the Sidekick by clicking the status filter (usually labeled Active) and selecting Incomplete.
Section 3 - Incomplete Notes in Reports
-
In the Reports module, click Patient Reports and select All Notes by Patient.
-
Click Add a filter, choose Column, and select Note Status.
-
Set the status to Incomplete and click Apply Filters to generate a list of notes that require attention.
