Description
This quick guide outlines the steps required to open, tag, and lock a note.
Steps
The following topics are covered in this quick guide:
Section 1 - Opening a Note
A note can be opened either in the Notes dialog box or in the Notes drop-down within the Sidekick, as indicated below.
Option I - Opening a Note in the Notes Dialog Box
-
Within the Sidekick, click Notes.
-
In the Notes dialog box, a list of all saved notes are displayed.
Note: Each note row includes a preview of the first line of text. If the first line is blank, the preview remains blank regardless of subsequent revisions.
-
To view a note, click the applicable note row.
-
The contents and all associated tags are displayed.
Option II - Opening a Note in the Notes Drop-Down
-
Within the Sidekick, click the Notes summary arrow.
-
The contents of the note and all tags added to the note are displayed.
Section 2 - Tagging a Note
Adding a tag allows you to classify notes. This enables filtering in custom reports, specifically the Patient Notes Report.
-
In the note editor, click the Tags include drop-down menu.
-
Select all applicable tags.
Note: If a note includes the Pop-up tag, it will automatically launch when the patient's account is loaded.
-
Three specific tags provide internal classification:
- Complete: Signifies tasks in a memo or to-do are finished.
- Memo: Pertinent to all users in a clinic.
- To Do: Reminders specific to the user who created them.
-
Click any area outside the editor to close the list. Selected tags will now display in the list.
-
If using To Do, Memo, or Complete, click Date Due to update the calendar.
-
Click the Save Note button to finalize.
Section 3 - Locking a Note
Locking prevents modifications. A locked note can only be unlocked by users with specific permissions. If a locked note has a Pop-up tag, it will persist every time the patient is loaded.
Option 1 - Locking in the Notes Dialog Box
-
Right-click the note row and select Lock Note.
-
Confirm by clicking Yes.
-
The note is now locked. Click the row to see the locked details.
Option 2 - Locking in the Note Editor
-
Click the Lock Note checkbox within the editor, then click Save Note.
Option 3 - Locking in the Notes Drop-Down
-
Right-click the note row in the Sidekick drop-down and select Lock Note.
