Description
This quick guide goes through the steps to activate a provider in Rcopia.
About
The provider must be activated before any electronic prescriptions can be created by the provider or their provider agents (office staff assigned to create and send non-controlled substances electronic prescriptions to a pharmacy). The provider and the office staff member that is an Rcopia Admin user must both be present on the same computer. The provider will need to have at least one token on hand in order to complete their activation.
Note
A user must have the correct permissions set up in order to access Rcopia. The Clinician Provider is the only default role with the permission to access Rcopia. A custom role for the prescriptions permission can be created and then assigned to team members as needed. For more information on setting up roles and permissions, click Understanding Curve Hero and Curve GRO Access Permissions.
Additional Note
The prescribing provider cannot authorize themselves, but will need the individual that has been designated as the Rcopia administrator to validate them. As such, the administrator will need to be signed into Curve Hero to help with this process.
Steps
- In the Sidekick, click the Prescriptions summary triangle.
- Click Launch Rcopia.
- The first time Rcopia is launched, it will require the user to review the Terms of Use. After doing so, click the box, and click Accept.
- In the upper left corner, click the More menu.
- In the dropdown menu, click Utilities.
- On the Utilities page, click Logical Access Control (LAC).
- The Activate Providers for EPCS page opens. There are three sections to complete to finalize the authorization process. These are:
- The Prescribers section
- The Granting Administrator section
- The Signature section
- In the Prescribers section, the name of the provider should be listed if they have been added with the Doctor role. If they have completed the registration process with EPCS, their NPI and DEA will be populated. Their status will be Inactive. Click Active.
- In the Granting Administrator section, the Rcopia Administrator must enter their name in the designated field to verify the prescriber's identity.
- In the Authorizing Prescriber section, the provider's name will display, as will their NPI. If the NPI does not display, enter it, then click Validate.
- The final three fields must be completed. Do the following steps to complete authorization process:
- Choose the device - This is the name of the device that is to be used to generate the OTP token. This is can be generated on the hard token, which was sent to the clinic from EPCS. It could also be generated on the soft token, which has been registered and secured during the EPCS process.
- Enter your signing passphrase - This is the passphrase that was created by the doctor during the registration process with EPCS.
- Enter the OTP token: This is the one-time pin that is generated on the device that was selected in this section.
- When this is done, click Authorize.
- A message appears on the screen to indicate theprovider has been activated. They can now log into Curve under their own name, and launch Rcopia. They will be required to enter a signature. This is to verify the prescriptions that are sent in their name.
- The activation and authorization process is complete, and the doctor can begin prescribing through Rcopia.
Note: If more than one provider has been added , it may require a provider search to find them. Utilize the search field as needed. If the provider does not display in the list, contact customercare@curvedental.com.
