Description
This quick guide outlines the steps required to download images and mount images in either the JPG or PNG format within the Charting module.
About
The main difference between JPG and PNG files is that PNG files contain more data than JPG files. If a file is therefore downloaded in both the JPG and PNG format, the PNG file will be larger in size compared to the JPG file.
In certain situations, there may be a requirement to upload a file in either the JPG or PNG format. Typically, non-web-based software programs and reference offices require files to be uploaded in the JPG format. In such cases, an image or mount image can be downloaded in the JPG format. As PNG files are typically higher in quality than JPG files, it is recommended to download an image or mount image in PNG format when there is no requirement as to which format option is required.
Important
The format that an image or mount image can be downloaded in is dependent on the format that the file was originally uploaded in. An image uploaded in the JPG format can only be downloaded as a JPG file whereas an image that was uploaded in the PNG format can be downloaded as either a PNG or JPG file.
If a mount contains a combination of JPG and PNG images, the option to download all mount images in the JPG or PNG format will be available. It is important to note that when the option to download all mount images in PNG format is selected, all of the PNG images will download in the PNG format while all of the JPG images will download in the JPG format.
