Description
This quick guide demonstrates how to use the QuickMeds tool in the prescriptions module.

Section 1 - Creating a QuickMeds Template

In the Sidekick, click Prescriptions.

The Prescriptions module opens. Click Quick Meds.

The QuickMeds tab opens. In the bottom right corner, click New Med.

A new item will be added. Right click the default name Unnamed Med.

Click Rename from the drop down menu.

Type the name and click Enter on the keyboard to save it.

Click the new medication. A drop-down appears which allows new details to be added for the prescription.

Click Dose?, and a dropdown menu appears. Click Add new.

Click the default New Dose that has appeared in the list.

Enter the dose for this medication, and hit Enter on the keyboard to save it.

Details added in any of the prescription fields will be available in a drop-down menu for future prescriptions.

The dose has been added to the list and now must be selected to attach it to this prescription template. Click the dose to select it.

Click Unit?

Any unit options that have already been added will display in the dropdown menu. Click Add new to enter a new unit type. Type the unit type and hit Enter on the keyboard.

Click to the select the desired unit.

Click the Repeat field. This is to indicate any refills for the medication. Enter an amount as applicable.

Click Sig?. Any medication directions that have been previously added will display in the list. Click Add new to create a new sig.

Click the New Transcription at the bottom of the list, and type the instructions.

Select the instructions for this medication from the dropdown list.

The QuickMed templates can be categorized to make them easier to find. Right click Uncategorized Meds. Click New Category in the dropdown menu.

Click the new Unnamed Category that appears.

Type the category name, and hit Enter on the keyboard to save it.

Click and drag a QuickMed template. Drop it in the desired category.

Section 2 - Creating a Prescription with QuickMeds
- With the correct patient at the top of the Sidekick, click Prescriptions.

2. The Prescriptions module opens. Click the QuickMeds tab to access the prescription templates.

3. To use a QuickMeds template, click the category for the desired medication.

4. Click and drag the desired template from the QuickMeds tab and drop it onto the prescription module.

5. The dentist can use the mouse to add a signature in the Signature of Prescriber field.

6. To print the prescription, click Print. To save the prescription for the patient, click Save.
Note: If the prescription is saved and not printed, the option to print will not be available again.

Section 3 - Creating a Prescription with New Meds

With the correct patient at the top of the Sidekick, click Prescriptions.

The Prescription module opens. Click New Med.

The Drug list opens to display any existing QuickMeds. If the required drug is in the list, click it.
Note: If the required drug is not in the Drug List, refer to
Section 4 - Creating a New Prescription with New Meds.
- If the required drug is not in the list, click Add new.

2. The Dose list opens to display any existing dosage already entered. Click the desired dose in the list.

3. In the Dispense field, type the number of applicable units such as tablets or capsules. Click Enter on the keyboard to save this field.

4. The Unit list opens. If the desired unit has already been added (such as tablets or capsules), click the unit to select it. If it has not been added, click Add New and add it to the list.

5. In the Repeat field, enter the number of refills if applicable. Leave this a 0 if no refills are permitted.

6. Click the Sig? field to add the prescription instructions.

6. If the directions for this prescription have already been added, click them in the list to attach them.

7. In the Signature of Provider field, the doctor can sign with the mouse.

8. At the bottom of the Prescription module is the option to either Print or Save. The prescription just created can only be printed at the time it is created. Click Print to print the prescription.

9. If the prescription is saved and not printed, it will display in the Sidekick. Click the Prescription summary triangle to view the patient's historical prescriptions.

Section 4 - Creating a New Prescription with QuickMeds

If the required drug is not in the list, click Add new.

Click the New drug that appears at the bottom of the list. Type the name of the required medication.

The drug has been added to the list. Click it to select it for this patient's prescription.

The Dose list appears. If the desired dosage has been added, click it in the list. If it has not been added, click Add New.

A New Dose field appears. Type the required dose.

The new dose has been added to the list. In the Dose list, click the desired Dose.

In the Dispense field, type the number of units such as tablets or capsules for this prescription.

In the Unit field, select the desired unit, such as tablets or capsules. If the desired unit has not been added, click Add New.

In the Repeat field, indicate if refills are allowed. If no refills are permitted, leave this field at 0.

Click the Sig? field. The list of Sig or prescription directions appears. If the desired directions have already been added, click them. If they have not, click Add Sig.

A New Sig field appears at the bottom of the list. Type the instructions for this patient's prescription. The new Sig has been added. Click the desired Sig for this prescription.

In the Signature of Provider field, the provider can enter their signature with the mouse.

At the bottom of the prescription are the options to Print or Save. The prescription can only be printed at the time it is created. To print the prescription, click Print.
