Description
This quick guide outlines how to utilize the Consistent Color Picker.
About
The creation of the consistent color picker feature allows users to create a custom panel of colors they can easily and consistently use across all of Curve Hero, without having to manually enter in custom color hex codes in different areas of Hero. Benefits include consistent custom colors between all color pickers within Hero, the ability to name colors for improved standardization of consistent color use, and established permissions for color management.

The following sections are covered in this quick guide:

- Section 2 - Accessing The Color Management Page In The Administration Panel
- Section 3 - Adding Custom Colors to the Color Management Panel
- Section 4 - Adding Custom Colors to Charting Settings
Steps
Section 1 - Understanding Color Management Permissions and Custom Role Creation
- The color management permission is assigned to the following roles: Administrator, Practice Owner, and Office Manager. Users with these permissions can rename system colors and also add, edit, name, and delete custom colors. Users who are not under one of these assigned roles can have a custom role created to include the color management permission.
- To make a custom role to allow users who do not have Administrator, Practice Owner, or Office Manager roles access to the Color Management permission, click the more options menu, then click Administration.
- This opens the Administration side panel. Under the User management dropdown, click Roles and permissions.
- The Roles and Permissions page will open. Click Add role.
- The Add new role dialog box will appear. Click inside the Name field and type in the desired name for the new role.
- Type in a description for this role inside the Description field, then click Save.
- The Edit role and permissions page will appear and a user can either scroll to find the color management permission or type color inside the search box to pull up the Color management permission. Click the Color management checkmark box to select this permission and assign it to this custom role.
- Click Save.
- A Permission updates pending dialog box will appear. Click Okay.
- Users will be brought back to the Roles and permissions page where they can scroll to find the newly created role. Once found, click the more options icon, then click Users assigned.
- A popup will appear prompting a user to assign this role in a user's profile. Click Okay. This role may now be added to specific user's profiles.
Section 2 - Accessing The Color Management Page In The Administration Panel
- To access the Color Management page inside the Administration panel, click the more options menu, then click Administration.
- Under the Practice information dropdown, click Color Management.
- The Color Management page will appear. This is where users will manage color names and add custom colors to the color picker. The colors are organized by color name, Hex code, and type (system or custom). System colors are native to Curve Hero, while custom colors are colors that users can choose and select.
Note: Hex codes are alphanumeric codes beginning with a hash (#) that identify specific colors. Every digital color has a hex code, and are used to determine the colors we see on our screens. For more information on understanding hex color codes inside Curve Hero, please visit Defining Custom Colors in the Administration Module. Hex code color generator sites, such as HTML Color Codes can be found on an internet search. - Clicking the more options icon of a system color (colors that are native to Curve Hero) allows a user to edit the color name but not the hex code color. System colors cannot be deleted. To edit the system color, click Edit.
- Clicking the more options icon of a custom color (colors that users can freely choose) allows a user to edit both the color name, edit the color/hex code, and/or delete the custom color. Custom colors can only be deleted if they are not already in use inside Hero. To edit the custom color, click Edit.

Section 4 - Adding Custom Colors to Charting Settings and Shortcuts
- Custom colors can also be used in charting settings and shortcuts. To access charting settings for color management, click Charting settings under the Charting management dropdown in the Administration panel.
- The Charting settings page will open. From here, users can select either default charting colors (native to Curve Hero) or custom charting colors. To use custom charting colors, click the Customize practice charting colors gray selection circle.
- There are three sections users can add custom colors to for a practice's charting colors: Planned procedures, procedures completed by this practice, and procedures completed by another practice. To select a custom color for each, click the corresponding color dropdown box.
- The color picker panel will appear as a dropdown where users can select from colors provided by Curve, or custom colors under the Custom panel. Click the desired color to select.
- The selected color will now appear for that procedure category. Repeat this process as desired for the remaining procedure categories.
- Users can also choose to use the default charting colors provided with Curve Hero by selecting Use default charting colors. These colors are not able to be changed or edited for procedure categories.
