Description
This quick guide demonstrates how to add clinical notes to the patient visits that occurred during the conversion days, or the period of time between when the final data pull was done and your Curve Hero Database went live.
About
The treatment planned procedures, conditions, tooth statuses, clinical history and clinical notes that occurred during the conversion period should have been recorded on the Clinical Data Tracking Sheet. In many cases, there is not room to add the actual note to the tracking sheet. Offices handle this according to how notes are done in their legacy software, and how they are choosing to do notes moving forward in Curve Hero.

Section 1 - Note Options in Curve Hero
- There are two options for doing clinical notes in Curve. They can be done on the note pad, which allows for text only. These can be used for copying and pasting text.
2. The other options is templated notes. These can include check boxes, radio selectors, dropdown lists and other components to facilitate note taking. These will have to be filled out manually from the legacy notes.
3. The steps in this guide offer different examples of how notes can be added into Curve from the conversion days. Utilize the option that works best your office.
Section 2 - Attaching Clinical Notes to the Visit
- It is imperative that clinical notes are attached to their visit. This makes them easy to track and reference. This is done in the Charting module. With the correct active patient, click Charting.
2. In the Charting Module, click History.
3. Locate the visit in the Charting History box, and right click on any of the procedures.
Section 3 - Adding Conversion Note Text into Curve
This section is for offices that are adding their conversion notes as text. To utilize templated notes, click Section 4.
- Click Add note.
2. The note pad opens. Type the date of the appointment. The note will automatically save as the current date, so it is important to add the actual date the note was added, or the date of the appointment.
2. Copy the note from the legacy software, and paste it into the text area of the note pad. If necessary, type the text. Click Save Note.
Section 4 - Adding Conversion Note Templates into Curve
- After accessing Charting History, right click one of the procedures in the visit, and click Add templated note.
2. The Templated Note window opens. A list of existing note categories displays on the left margin. Click the category for the visit, then click the specific note that fits this visit type.
3. Fill out the templated note, then click the checkmark.
4. The note is transcribed into text. Click the top of the note, and hit Enter on the keyboard. Type the actual appointment date since the date of the note will automatically be set to the current date.
5. Click Save.
Section 5 - Viewing the Clinical Note
1. Once it is saved, the Note will be attached to its date of service in the Charting module, and will be displayed as a note icon in the History box. Click this to open the note.
2. The note displays. Click the note to expand it.
3. The full note displays. The note tag is Clinical History. This is always the default tag for notes in Charting History.
4. The note will also be available in the Sidekick. Click the Notes Summary Triangle.
5. If the Charting module is open, the note will display. If another module is open, click the categories.
6. Select Clinical History, and unselect any of the other default categories for that module. Click outside the categories list to close it.
