Using the Procedure Menu for Treatment Planning

Section 1 - Charting Menu Overview

  1. With the correct patient selected in the top of the Sidekick, click Charting.

  2. This opens the patient's Charting module. If this is an existing patient, it will already be in Planning mode.
  3. If it is a new patient, the Charting module will open in History mode.

  4. Treatment plans are created in Planning mode, so click Planning if the chart is in History mode.

  5. The Charting menu is located to the left of the odontogram.

  6. The patient's name is at the top of the menu with the default dentist and the patient's fee guide.

  7. Under the patient section, is the section for Conditions, where conditions can be added to the odontogram.

  8. The Tooth Status section is beneath Conditions. This is where the tooth status can be selected to be indicated on the odontogram.

  1. At the bottom of the Charting menu is the option to display the Charting Shortcuts or the Procedures menu. In many cases, Charting Shortcut buttons can be used for a quicker, smoother process for building a treatment plan.

  2. To toggle between the Charting Shortucuts, and the Procedure menu, click the Charting Shortcuts toggle button.

  3. The Charting menu Procedure defaults to Restoration. The applicable fields required for filling restorations are listed by default because restoration is set as the procedure.

Section 2 - Adding Planned Procedures from the Charting Menu.

  1. To utilize the Procedures menu for treatment planning, click Restoration.

  2. This brings up a list of procedures that can be selected to add procedures to the patient's treatment plan. click the desired procedure to select it from the list.

  3. Whatever procedure is selected, will dictate what other fields display in the Charting menu. For example, if Crown is selected, the menu changes to display Material and Type.

  4. Click Type to select a specific code for the procedure. This option will only display when it is applicable.

  5. The codes that come up as options will be available codes for the material selected. This means the material needs to be selected first before the procedure code.

  6. Click Material to bring up the list of different material options for the prcoedure. Click the desired option to select that material for the procedure. Note: This option will only display when it is applicable.

  7. when the material is selected, the Type field may disappear if there is only one procedure code for that procedure and material.
  8. When all required information is selected in the Charting menu, click the site on the odontogram to chart the procedure.

  9. The procedure code, description, provider, material will be added to the treatment card below. Planned procedures will paint red on the odontogram if the default Charting colors are used.
