This article explains how to avoid imaging conflicts by pointing the computer to the drivers you want it to use at startup.

Steps to Follow
Section 1 - WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Some legacy software might not run correctly while Curve Capture is running. The opposite is also possible, making it so Curve Capture will not run correctly if the legacy software is running. This is caused by a conflict with the drivers that are installed. When the legacy software detects the imaging device, it uses either a direct or twain driver. Some sensors cannot have two drivers running at the same time. (The most common example is Platinum and Titanium sensors not functioning for Curve while Dexis Imaging Suite is running).
You will want to confirm the following information.
- Which legacy software was the office using to acquire images?
- Are they actively using it to obtain new images?
- Is the legacy software currently open?
- Does the legacy software act as a background process?
Once you have confirmed those points, ask if taking images in the previous software is necessary. If it is not, you can take steps to make sure Curve Capture is the primary startup process.
Using this process will make it so you don't have to remove programs from the computer to make Curve Capture work.
Section 2 -DISABLING THE LEGACY SOFTWARE AS A STARTUP PROCESS
The program which is not in use does not need to be uninstalled. Instead, set which program runs when the computer starts up.
- Right-click on the taskbar (WIN 11 press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC)
- Click "Task Manager"
- Make sure that More Details is expanded
- Select "Startup" tab at the top
- Locate the program you do not want running
- Right-click on the program
- Select Disable
- Find the program you want running (in this situation Curve Capture)
- Right-click on the program
- Make sure it is enabled
- Close any open programs and restart the computer.The startup process will point the computer to the correct program without uninstalling previous programs. The computer won’t run the other one unless manually turned on.
Section 3 -QUESTIONS YOU WILL LIKELY BE ASKED.
Why would we want Curve as a startup process?
answer: Startup processes are automatically opened anytime the computer is restarted or powered on. You won’t need to manually open the app whenever the computer starts.This will also allow Curve to check for and apply automatic updates when you log into Curve Hero.
Why would we not want our legacy software in the startup process?
answer: The computer sees the second process as being redundent and won't run it.
If both programs are set to startup, the computer will open the first program and the drivers will run. In most cases the legacy software’s driver is recognized as the default, meaning it will start first. The second program might open, but the computer will not use the second driver.
Is anything removed from the computer?
answer: No, the computer is simply prioritizing the correct program.
